Hello! I am Dr. Reinhardt-Nelson, licensed clinical psychologist and owner of Human Being Therapy. I specialize in helping people understand how their past is impacting them today, and how to move on from what is weighing them down while honoring what they wish to hold onto. Being human is not easy even when we get a pretty good start to life, let alone when we have had traumatic childhoods, relationships and experiences. No matter how challenging things are or what has happened, it is possible to bring a greater sense of peace to our lives through healing. It is my goal to help each client find their unique path towards maximum health and wellbeing.

I utilize a variety of evidence based therapeutic techniques which are chosen to meet each clients needs and preferences. Some of the specific methods I find most helpful and effective include Somatic Resourcing, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Somatic Resourcing includes a variety of exercises that help us to connect with the present moment and become more aware of our emotions, physical sensations, and thought processes in a non-judgmental manner. These exercises also help us feel in touch with the support and resources we have available to us. Practicing these skills helps us to reduce the impact of emotional triggers, increase our ability to make conscious choices, and feel more grounded even when we are faced with stressors. Increasing our ability to be self aware in these ways also helps us make decisions and take actions which are in line with our value systems more often.
EMDR has been proven for over thirty years to significantly relieve symptoms of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) so that we can move beyond the painful experiences of our past. It has also been proven to be effective in helping us let go of long-held negative beliefs about ourselves, typically originating in childhood, that hold us back from the life we desire. EMDR helps us gain a deep understanding of ourselves and to further integrate our life experiences. There are multiple steps in this process to ensure that our journey through some of the most difficult moments of your life are handled with care and respect. A client I work with stated so clearly what EMDR can do for a person when she said, "EMDR changes you from the inside out. You become who you want to be."
Human Being Therapy is currently offering psychotherapy via telehealth. If we decide to incorporate extended trauma sessions (sessions longer than one to two hours at a time) into our work together we will arrange to meet in person. For one to two hour sessions, we will meet online via my client portal's telehealth system. You just need a private location, and a device with video, audio and internet access. If this is not your comfort zone please let me know and I will do my best to help you through the ins and outs of meeting this way.
